In this section, we'll keep you up to date with all the latest band news.

Blue Collar Band are currently about to record their 6th CD although the current line up is different and so the sound is different too.
We still have that special GROOVE that our fans keep telling us is really special. Our new Drummer, Chris Otter is an excellent Musician and his drumming ability is outstanding.
His timing sense is also brilliant. Whilst Chris has only been with the Band since February this year, he is now getting used to the other members, and is now attempting more Blues genre vocals which are coming together extremely well. Like our previous long-standing drummer, Johnny, Chris has an awesome, high range (tenor) voice and can pick up harmonies very easily.

The Band’s Lead guitarist, Phil Pritchard is again this year travelling to South Korea to perform at a huge Rock Concert with Maurice Greer and Tony Baird – performing as
‘The Human Instinct.’ Phil did a similar concert two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.

This year has so far been quite hectic for the Band in terms of gigs, especially considering the current world recession. Some venues have cut back the Entertainment requirements but others have increased. We assume it is partly due to certain parts of the city becoming more trendy and the place to be, while others are losing that aspect.

Certainly the Band’s monthly gigs in Vulcan Lane are well attended, but so is every Bar and venue in that part of the city. By 1am you can barely move for scantily clad young people in High Street, Vulcan Lane, Shortland Street, Fort Street and Queen Street.

Blue Collar Band will be performing again this year at the 2009 Bay of Islands Jazz & Blues Festival and looking forward to it as usual.
