Band Bio

A tight, grooving, four-piece Auckland-based band consisting of 2 guitars, bass & drums, specialising in Blues & Soul Music, plus some classic-rock covers and adaptations in their own unique style. They regularly perform both in and out of Auckland and have built up a great following particularly in the Far North, Bay of Islands, South Auckland, Franklin and Coromandel Peninsula where they often perform.

The two original band members, Greer Wilcox and Phil Pritchard play awesome, down-to-earth Blues and Rock with a touch of good old Rock-n-Roll thrown in occasionally. Although, the band has become known for their driving Blues-Rock, slide-blues, jazz-blues, soul-blues and blues-funk, they enjoy performing any style music that an audience enjoys. Later this year 2009 the Band plan to further record a host of original material written by the members and friends. All four musicians are able to make a worthwhile contribution in this area.

Phil is brilliant with the musical arrangements and on Slide guitar with BV’s. Chris Parfitt (70’s award winner of NZ Golden Disc) is able to tirelessly & consistently deliver strong vocals of many styles and genres. Chris Otter (the Band’s new Drummer and awesome Rock vocalist) joined the Band in February 2009 after long-standing drummer/vocalist John Ellis had to leave due to experiencing traumatic personal problems. Chris can sing a mean John Fogerty or even ZZ Top or ACDC! Greer has converted 100% to five-string bass and has really come to terms with the versatility the instrument can offer. He has now sold his remaining 4 string basses and has just returned to singing a few lead vocals suiting his vocal range. He too has a few original songs to “throw in the pot”.

One of the unique, and special differences with this band (you may remember) is that one of the main lead male vocalist is also the drummer! We don’t know how he does it! Greer Phil and one of the Chris’ also contribute strong BV’s to whichever Chris is singing the lead.

The band performs mostly covers (adapted) music, but many tracks are less commonly heard. The band’s own adaptations and arrangements of non-original material is what they do so well, by adding their own individual expression to the music. Whilst the band currently does not include a keyboard player, sax or other suitable and complementary instrument, there is always a possibility of this inclusion and guests could be included at any time. However the band members are constantly aware of the economics these days, of the cost of travelling, equipment etc, which must be considered.

Some of the artists that the band aspire to are: BB King, Sonny Terry, Muddy Waters, JJ Cale, Eric Clapton, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix, Cream, Van Morrison, John Mayall, Gary Moore, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Wilson Pickett, Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, ACDC, Lonnie Mack, Doctor John – to name but a few !
